New Pickleball Courts at Wilson Park

A Capital Project to build new, dedicated pickleball courts at Wilson Park is in process. That project will include eight new courts that will accommodate 32 players at a time. These courts will be situated near the current tennis/paddle tennis/pickleball courts. They will be fenced and include nighttime lighting. An update on this project will be provided to the City Council on a monthly basis until completion.

Additionally, the City has engaged a design consultant to plan for the potential development of the Southern California Edison right-of-way land in Columbia Park. If park activation and development can be approved for the approximately 9 acres of land, dedicated pickleball courts will be considered based on public input.

It should be noted that the City Council recently approved an update to the City’s zoning code that requires any new pickleball court, for dedicated or shared use, to be at a minimum distance of 250 feet (as measured from the center of any pickleball court) to any residential property. The new ordinance applies to pickleball courts on public property, such as parks, but not to private property.
