Concealed Carry Weapon License

A California Concealed Carry Weapon allows a person to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person. Torrance residents who wish to obtain a Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) License through the Torrance Police Department must submit an application. CCW Licenses are valid for two years from the date of issuance and require the completion of an 8-hour firearms training course prior to renewal.

Step 1.Review required documents

Prior to filling out the application, please allow a minimum of one (1) hour to complete the online application, as you will not be allowed to save and complete it at a later time. Please review the required documents to upload and have them available: 

  • Valid California Driver's License, or state-issued ID, which has a current address in Torrance. Your state-issued ID must have your current residential or mailing address, within the jurisdiction of the Torrance Police Department. 
  • Passport-style photo
    • Color photograph of the applicant's full head, including hair and facial features
    • Use a white, plain color, or neutral background
    • Do not wear hats, glasses, earbuds, or other objects
    • Taken within the past thirty days. 
  • Most recent utility bill or any other sufficient proof of your residency within Torrance. Proof of residency must be opened and can be provided in the form of a monthly utility bill, mortgage statement, rental agreement, vehicle registration, or a bank statement (please redact account information) 

Step 2.Apply online

Important: Please keep a record of your Order Number after submitting your application. Your Order Number is needed to check your application status and view messages from the CCW Licensing Unit.
