Submit a Claim for Damages

Step 1.Before You File a Claim

• Confirm the incident occurred within Torrance city limits. 
• Caltrans maintains Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), Western Ave., and Hawthorne Blvd. north of PCH within Torrance. 

Step 2.Filing Requirements and Deadlines

Claims for personal injury, death, or property damage must be filed within 6 months (See Government Code section 911.2); all other claims within 1 year(Government Code section 911.2).

Filing a false claim is a felony. (Penal Code §72)

Step 3.Complete the Claim Form

Step 4.Sign and Submit Your Claim

Once you sign the form, you can either mail it to us or bring it to us in person at:

Email or fax is not accepted by law. 

Step 5.What Happens After You File

Once we receive your claim, we'll assign it a claim number, and a claims adjuster will investigate it. We'll process your claim within 4 to 6 weeks and notify you of the outcome.
