How can I become a TCtv user?

  • You must be a resident of Torrance or a member of a non-profit group or organization. Proof of residency and/or non-profit status is required:

  • Attend New Users Orientation Session (Workshops) held the first and third Wednesday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m.

What are the benefits as a user?

  • Use of electronic bulletin board for announcements
  • Ability to submit pre-produced tapes (bicycled) for cablecasting on TCtv-28
  • Subscription to CitiGUIDE 

Who has priority for use of the facility?

  • TCtv operates on a first-come, first served basis
  • In order of priority: Torrance residents, Torrance based non-profit groups and organizations, non-Torrance based non-profit groups and organizations

How much does training cost?

Training is free! However, persons enrolling in workshops will be required to deposit $35 for Field and Post Production Workshop and $50 for Studio Production Workshop with TCtv.  The full deposit will be refunded when the newly Certified Producer produces and submits his/her first completed program within the one year certification period for cablecasting on channel 28. 

Make checks or money orders payable to the "CITY OF TORRANCE" You also may pay by VISA or Mastercard. (Cash is not accepted.)  Any falsification of information, non-completion of workshop, or User privileges being canceled or suspended by TCtv will result in forfeiture of the deposit. 

Who provides cable television service in Torrance?

AT&T U-Verse, Spectrum Cable, and Frontier FiOS currently offer video services in the City of Torrance. Spectrum is available throughout the city, while Frontier is generally available west of Prairie/Madrona Avenue and AT&T is generally available east of Prairie/Madrona.
