In 1977, the City of Torrance Cultural Arts Commission honored local excellence through the Excellence in Arts Awards, recognizing individuals, organizations, and businesses for outstanding contributions to the arts in Torrance. We present awards across a wide range of disciplines, including Dance, Drama, Theatre Arts, Music, Visual Arts and Design, Literary Arts, and the Emerging Artist Award.
The prestigious Katy Geissert Award recognizes those whose work has made a lasting impact on the arts in Torrance. Each summer, we invite the community to submit nominations. We celebrate award recipients at a public awards reception in October, held in conjunction with National Arts and Humanities Month.
