After School Club

The After School Club (ASC) is a recreation-based program where kids can relax after school, have fun, and get their homework done. We offer games, sports, and arts and crafts in a safe, supportive environment. The program is open to students in grades 1–8 and is offered through the City of Torrance Community Services Department in partnership with the Torrance Unified School District.

Program Highlights

  • Promotes self-esteem, teamwork, and creativity
  • Daily activities include games, sports, arts & crafts
  • Structured homework time each day
  • Staff-to-student ratio:
    • 1:10 at elementary schools
    • 1:13 at middle schools
  • Enrollment is limited and based on minimum participation at each site

Program Schedule

  • August through June
  • Monday–Friday, after school until 6 p.m.
  • Follows the Torrance Unified School District calendar
  • Closed on holidays, student-free days, and school breaks

Teen Rec Club

Looking for a place to unwind after school? Teen Rec Club is the go-to hangout for middle schoolers in grades 6–8! Join a vibrant, welcoming community designed to help teens relax, connect, and thrive. Led by experienced and friendly recreation staff, the program includes:

  • Group games and team sports

  • Creative arts and crafts

  • Mental health and social skill-building activities

  • Special theme days and challenges


Program Details

  • Location: Greenwood Park – 1520 Greenwood Ave., Room 28, Torrance, CA 90503

  • Grades: 6–8

  • Days: Monday – Friday

  • Time: 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Session Registration & Payment:

  • Fall 2026 (Aug 20 – Nov 13): $650 | Registration begins June 15, 2026

  • Winter 2027 (Nov 16 – Mar 5): $650 | Payment due October 27, 2026

  • Spring 2027 (Mar 8 – Jun 10): $650 | Payment due February 16, 2027

Financial assistance may be available for Torrance residents.


Important Program Information

  • Submit a Participant Emergency Form and Parent/Guardian Agreement on the first day

  • Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation

  • Staff will sign in participants at the door upon arrival

  • Participants must be picked up by a listed adult (18+)

  • Notify absences by calling (310) 618-2994 before 3:00 p.m.

  • Late pickup fees apply after 6:01 p.m.
