Tackle the Trash

Coastal Cleanup Day is a fun and meaningful way for individuals, neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and community groups to demonstrate their commitment to protecting our oceans and keeping our beaches clean.

Partnering with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and Heal the Bay, Team Torrance is excited to return to the beach for our 29th consecutive year! Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Torrance Beach for the biggest cleanup of the year. Last year's event welcomed more than 400 community volunteers, and we're looking forward to making an even greater impact together. 

This year's sports-inspired theme, "Tackle the Trash," celebrates Torrance's incredible athletic spirit—from the excitement of the FIFA World Cup and the upcoming Olympic Games and the LA Dodgers leading the National League West, to the pride we have in our local high school sports teams. Whether you're an athlete, a fan, or simply passionate about giving back, this is your chance to show your team spirit while making a difference.

Volunteer Opportunities

Participants can:

• Help protect our coastline and local environment.

• Develop leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Work alongside fellow volunteers, City staff, elected officials, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, and community leaders.

• Connect with neighbors while giving back to the community.

• Participate in an opportunity drawing for a chance to win great prizes including gift cards/certificates, gift baskets, sports related memorabilia and collectibles, and a boogie board!

Groups and Student Volunteers

Local businesses, schools, Key Clubs, youth organizations, sports teams, community groups, and families are all encouraged to participate. Groups of five or more can register as a team and enjoy expedited check-in by bypassing the registration lines on event day.

Students can also earn up to three hours of community service credit for participating. Show your team spirit and join us on Saturday, September 19!

About Coastal Cleanup Day

Each year, volunteers across Los Angeles County come together for California Coastal Cleanup Day, coordinated by Heal the Bay in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy, the California Coastal Commission, and the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors. Known as the largest volunteer day on the planet, the event mobilizes thousands of volunteers to clean beaches, waterways, and inland areas, helping protect our oceans and environment.

In Torrance, volunteers join this global effort by removing trash and debris from the shoreline to help keep our beaches, water, and community healthy. In partnership with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce and Heal the Bay, Team Torrance proudly participates each year to support a cleaner coastline.
