UPDATE: Working closely with school officials, Torrance Police Officers coordinated the release of students, and all South High School students were sent home safely. Residents of nearby homes that were evacuated as a precaution have been allowed to return. The Torrance Alert for police activity near Pacific Coast Highway and Calle Mayor has been cancelled, and the area has reopened to the public.

The Torrance Police Department thanks students, parents, school staff, neighboring residents, and our mutual aid partners for their patience and cooperation throughout this incident.

Making a false bomb threat is a serious crime. Detectives are continuing to investigate to identify the person responsible. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Torrance Police Department at (310) 328-3456 (DR #260038385).
