Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Traffic Collision on Madrona Avenue

On Monday, August 24, 2026, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Torrance Police officers and the Torrance Fire Department responded to the area of Madrona Avenue at Garnet Street following a vehicle-versus-pedestrian traffic collision.

The investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing Madrona Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk. Southbound traffic had yielded to allow the pedestrian to cross; however, as the pedestrian continued across the roadway, he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Madrona Avenue.

Torrance Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and provided medical attention, but the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver was found not to be under the influence of alcohol.

Members of the Torrance Police Department's Traffic Division and Forensic Investigations Team responded to the scene and completed an initial investigation. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner also responded to the scene and took possession of the decedent's body.
