Torrance to Host Second "Kick It In Downtown" Soccer Watch Party
Published on June 24, 2026
Torrance, Calif., June 24, 2026 – The City of Torrance invites the community to attend its second free "Kick-It in Downtown" soccer World Cup watch party on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. at El Prado Park.
For the July event, activities will be centered at El Prado Park, creating a more compact event footprint while maintaining easy access to Downtown businesses. El Prado Street will be closed between Cravens and Arlington Avenues during the event, but public parking will remain accessible for Downtown businesses, restaurants, and event attendees.
The family-friendly event will feature a soccer watch party on a 16 x 9 foot LED screen and youth soccer activities in partnership with Metro, the Downtown Torrance Association, and the LA Galaxy. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the matches from the park's turf area while gathering with friends, family, and fellow soccer fans.
The July 11 event builds on the success of the City's first Kick-It in Downtown celebration held on June 13, which brought residents, families, and visitors together for a day of soccer, entertainment, shopping, and community engagement in Downtown Torrance.
Made possible through a grant awarded by Metro, the June event transformed Downtown Torrance into a vibrant gathering space featuring live match broadcasts, local vendors, youth soccer activities, live music, chalk art, and opportunities to connect with City departments and community organizations.
"We are excited to continue bringing the community together through the universal language of soccer," said Torrance Mayor George K. Chen. "El Prado Park offers a wonderful setting for families and fans to gather, celebrate, and enjoy a memorable summer experience in Downtown Torrance."
The City implemented a comprehensive event operations plan during the June event that included security personnel, first aid services, traffic management measures, and other amenities to create a safe and welcoming experience for attendees. Similar safety measures will be in place for the July event, with fewer restrictions to allow for a more relaxed park experience, including access to shade and the ability for attendees to bring their own chairs and food.
The public is encouraged to consider taking public transit to the event. Downtown Torrance is accessible via Torrance Transit Lines 1, 3, and 5, as well as Connect Torrance (fare required). For additional event information, visit TorranceCA.Gov.
