Rebecca Poirier City Clerk

Rebecca Poirier was first elected City Clerk on June 3, 2014. She was re-elected in 2018 and again in 2022.

She worked for the City of Torrance as the Deputy City Clerk from July 6, 2009, until she was elected City Clerk in 2014. She has more than 25 years of municipal experience. She also worked for two years in the Parks and Recreation Department.

Poirier has helped streamline and manage record-keeping and public records requests. She’s helped implement many new programs to allow the City Clerk’s office to operate more efficiently in serving the public.

Poirier is a member of the Torrance Historical Society, FBI National Citizens Academy Alumni Association, City Clerks Association of California, and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She is an alumna of Continuing Education for Public Officials (CEPO), the Torrance Chamber of Commerce Leadership Torrance program 2011, Grassroots Academy 2013, and the Gear Up and CORE programs through the City of Torrance.

Ms. Poirier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge. She earned her Master Municipal Clerk designation in 2011 through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Prior to that, she earned a Certified Municipal Clerk designation in June 2003.
