Rebecca Poirier was first elected City Clerk on June 3, 2014. She was re-elected in 2018, 2022, and 2026.
She worked for the City of Torrance as the Deputy City Clerk from July 6, 2009, until she was elected City Clerk in 2014. She has more than 26 years of municipal experience.
City Clerk Poirier has helped streamline and manage record-keeping and public records requests. She’s helped implement many new programs to allow the City Clerk’s office to operate more efficiently in serving the public.
City Clerk Poirier is a member of the City Clerks Association of California and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She is on the Salvation Army Advisory Board and Torrance Historical Society Board.
She earned her Master Municipal Clerk designation in 2011 through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Prior to that, she earned a Certified Municipal Clerk designation in June 2003.
