Cultural Arts Commission

The Torrance Cultural Arts Commission’s job is to give advice and suggestions to the Torrance City Council about art, culture, and creative activities in the city.

The vision of the Torrance Cultural Arts Commission is to be a regional leader in the arts. It strives to make art a part of everyday life in Torrance and to ensure the community is aware of all the artistic, cultural, and creative opportunities available.

Goals of the Torrance Cultural Arts Commission

  • Recognize and support leaders in the local arts community.
  • Review funding requests and grant proposals that benefit the Torrance community.
  • Oversee donations of artwork to the City and manage the City’s Portable Art Collection.
  • Promote the inclusion of public art in public and private spaces.
  • Advocate for the care, improvement, and expansion of the City’s cultural facilities.
  • Provide oversight for capital improvements at the Cultural Arts Center.
  • Support programs and events that enrich community life and foster partnerships.
  • Collaborate with other civic-minded organizations to strengthen arts and culture in the city.
