Fire Plan Check & Permits

The Fire Planning and Development section of the City of Torrance Fire Department works closely with developers, architects, and engineers to ensure building and development projects meet fire protection and hazardous materials requirements. This includes reviewing all architectural blueprints, development plans, and proposals submitted within the City of Torrance.

Our review process covers conditional use permits, temporary use permits, Fire Code permits, site development, environmental impact reports, Fire and Building plan reviews, and underground tank plan reviews.

Online Permitting

We’re excited to introduce our new comprehensive online permitting system, designed to make the process more convenient and accessible. Whether you are a property owner, contractor, or developer, you can now submit applications, pay fees, and track your project status entirely online. By reducing the need for in-person visits, this system saves you time, streamlines approvals, and helps your projects move forward efficiently.

Effective January 5, 2026, the Community Risk Reduction Division will be accepting electronic submittal/plan review and will transition entirely to a digital plan check and permit submittal process. Paper plans and physical submittals will no longer be accepted after this date.
