Records and Information Services

The Records Division is a 24/7 support unit within the Support Services Bureau of the Torrance Police Department. It plays a vital role in providing access to police records and ensuring the secure handling of confidential criminal information in accordance with federal and state law, as well as department policy.

Records staff support internal operations, assist external law enforcement agencies, and serve members of the public who require access to police-related documentation.

Public Counter Location

Located in the main lobby of the Torrance Police Department.

Hours of Operation

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Sunday & Holidays: Closed

Services Available Without an Appointment

These services can be handled in person at the public counter:

  • Subpoena drop-off
  • Clearance letter application submission
  • Restraining order submission
  • Property release (from stored/impounded vehicle)
  • Repossession receipt drop-off

Services Requiring Processing Prior to Release

For the following, please schedule an appointment or submit your request by mail or drop-off:

  • Request for public records and traffic collision reports
  • Clearance letter (for visa, employment, or immigration purposes)
  • Vehicle release appointments
