Services

Areas of Responsibility

  • Ensure the provision of quality pre-hospital care.
  • Provide for Quality Improvement and identify necessary training needs.
  • Conduct patient care reviews and follow-up.
  • Evaluate and purchase EMS supplies and equipment, including budget oversight.
  • Monitor and track paramedic licensure and EMT certifications.
  • Oversee the Patient Transportation Program, including Ambulance Operator Operations
  • Manage the Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) Program.
  • Act as a liaison to the Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU) Program.
  • Serve as a liaison to county and state regulatory agencies, hospitals, ambulance providers, and other EMS groups.
  • Address paramedic staffing needs through recruitment, selection, support, evaluation, and accreditation of prospective paramedics.
  • Administer and develop continuing education for paramedics and EMTs.
  • Research and develop new equipment, training, procedures, and service delivery methods.
  • Identify advancements in technology and patient treatments in partnership with the Local EMS Agency for improved patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the review of local, state, and national legislation, regulations, and policies affecting EMS.
  • Engage in EMS workgroups, committees, and advisory boards at the county, state, and federal levels.
  • Manage the department's immunization and Communicable Disease Prevention and Surveillance Program.
  • Oversee patient record requests, facility billing, hardship requests, and third-party billing.
  • Participate in the oversight of Emergency Medical Dispatch and Tiered Dispatching
  • Oversee the Fall Prevention, Sidewalk CPR, and leave-behind Narcan education initiatives.
  • Liaise with local and regional entities for homeless outreach, Adult Protective Services, and Ombudsman services.
  • Administer and oversee Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS).
