City Academy of the Arts - Torrance (CAAT) expands upon the current arts classes offered by Cultural Services with a variety of private lessons and advanced classes in performing and visual arts.
Whether you’re looking for focused arts instruction, advanced or conservatory-style training, or simply want to grow your creative skills, the City Academy of the Arts – Torrance (CAAT) offers something for everyone. Our programs serve dedicated students seeking higher-level classes and in-depth training, as well as those interested in exploring the arts through a wide variety of engaging classes.
CAAT also offers private lessons in music, dance, theatre, and visual arts, taught by professional instructors at locations throughout Torrance park facilities and the Torrance Cultural Arts Center.
We're introducing a new way to connect with high-quality private instructors through the Rec Instructor Network. Torrance residents can book piano, voice, and guitar private lessons at a time and placethat works for you.

Classes are taught by professional teaching artists from the Regina Klenjoski Dance Company and CAAT.

CAAT Music offers classes in both musical instruments and voice for all skill levels. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow as a musician, you’ll find opportunities to build your skills and explore new musical styles.
You can also take part in performance groups, including the Torrance Civic Chorale, Torrance Jazz Ensemble, A Cappella Group, Brass Ensemble, and Youth Choir. All programs are taught by CAAT teaching artists.
