Asam Sheikh was elected to the Torrance City Council for District 3 on June 7, 2022.
Sheikh has worked for American Honda Motor Co. for 25 years and currently serves as a Senior Financial Analyst and North America Project Systems Lead in the Financial Planning and Analysis Department. He received a company award from Honda’s President and CEO for helping improve work processes.
Sheikh has been active in the Torrance community for many years. In January 2023, he became Chair of the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee for the Torrance Unified School District, which reviews school bond spending. He also serves as a Board Director for the Torrance Education Foundation.
On City Council, Sheikh serves as Chair of the Strategic Plan Committee and is a member of the Employee Relations and Public Safety Committee and the Finance and Governmental Operations Committee. He has previously served as Chair of the Planning Commission, Employee Relations Committee, Library Commission, and the 2020 Census Committee.
Sheikh was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. He earned his first MBA there and later continued his education in the United States with business and accounting degrees.
Sheikh is married to his wife, Jill, and they have two children. He enjoys playing tennis and serves as a captain for a local USTA team.
