The City of Torrance invites the community to celebrate the 13th Annual Cherry Blossom Cultural Festival on Sunday, March 29th from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at Columbia Park (4045 190th St. Torrance 90504). The event is free.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, and picnic under the cherry blossoms and enjoy live performances, unique crafts for sale, and delicious food options for purchase.
The many cherry blossom trees located at Columbia Park were donated by Soka Gakkai International, the Buddhist Association for Peace, Culture, and Education. The non-profit global community-based organization is among community partner for the event which also includes the North Torrance Homeowner's Association, and the Torrance Craftsmen's Guild.
In Japan, cherry blossom, or sakura, are a symbol of hope, virtue, and new beginnings. They also symbolize clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse and are an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life.
