City Academy of the Arts - Torrance (CAAT) expands upon the current arts classes offered by Cultural Services with a variety of private lessons and advanced classes in performing and visual arts. Departments in CAAT include:

Whether you are interested in specialized arts instruction or conservatory-style curriculum, CAAT has something for you. Designed both for the serious student who wishes to pursue higher level classes and programs, as well as those who wish to participate in a dynamic and diverse offering of classes. CAAT also offers PRIVATE LESSONS throughout Torrance park facilities and the Torrance Cultural Arts Center.

• The Torrance Recreation Services Department is launching a new way to get high quality instruction - via the Rec Instructor Network. City residents will now be able to book piano, voice, and guitar private lessons. Lessons are booked at a time and place convenient for you.

CAAT ART is expanding studies in fine art and general arts and crafts classes and workshops. Students of all levels and interests will find an array of options to challenge and inspire. Work with professional artists to expand your artistic horizons and hone your skills. Programs taught by Torrance Art Museum Teaching Artists and CAAT Teaching Artists. CAAT DANCE offers a variety of youth and adult dance classes, including entry-level to specialized classes for the serious student. Explore the wide range of programming available. CAAT MUSIC is expanding studies in both musical instruments and voice. Students of all levels and interests will find interesting opportunities to refine their skills and explore new musical endeavors. The music program includes performance groups such as Torrance Civic Chorale, Torrance Jazz Ensemble, a new A Cappella Group, Brass Ensemble, and a Youth Choir.
