What is the Water Conservation Ordinance and how does it affect me?
The Water Conservation Ordinance (Ordinance 3717) is meant to stop wasteful uses of water and
encourage life-long conservation.
Currently you can: Water your lawn before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m., every day, for less than 15 minutes. Please wait two days after it rains before watering again. This can change depending on how much water is available!
Never "hose-off" your sidewalk or let water go down the gutter. Always use a nozzle and can shut itself off, and remember to always conserve water.
Property owners are responsible for hiring a tree contractor and for all costs associated with the work.
For trimming and removing a tree, you must apply for a FREE permit.
Trees that are removed must be replaced. There is $250 deposit that is refunded when a tree is replaced and inspected by the City.
Applications for trim and removal permits may be obtained at the Public Works Department, the Permit Center, or by calling the Streetscape Division at 1-310-781-6900.
