Torrance Neighborhood Outdoor Warning Sirens

Black 'T' with negative space 'N'TorranceNOW Sirens are part of the overall Torrance Community Warning System, which includes Torrance Alerts, Torrance Refining Company Siren, Crenshaw/Del Amo Barrier System, CitiSOUNDS radio, CitiCABLE, Emergency Alert System, and the recently tested Beach Emergency Evacuation Lights System (BEELS). 

TorranceNOW includes eight sirens strategically located in the City at 6 fire stations, Southeast Library, and one at the corner of Lomita Boulevard and Madison Street.  TorranceNOW Sirens is designed for early warning to the community in the event there is a significant emergency requiring a call-to-action.

 

 

During an Emergency:

The TorranceNOW Sirens will be activated during but not limited to the following scenarios:

  • Evacuation Orders
  • Shelter-In-Place Orders

Testing

The City of Torrance monitors the functionality of the TorranceNOW Sirens on a consistent basis. The sirens are tested silently daily.

During an audible test of the TorranceNOW Sirens, those in the City of Torrance should expect to hear:

  • A wail tone
  • A voice message stating "This is only a test"
  • Westminster Chimes
