National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week is powered by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, and provides the opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to come together to build stronger, more resilient communities. In honor of National Volunteer Week, the City of Torrance would like to recognize and thank our over 5,300 volunteers who contributed over 47,000 service hours in 2018. This year’s theme, “Volunteers Are Stars That Brighten Lives”, is so fitting, as volunteers unite to participate in and care for the community by contributing their time and skills in various ways to supplement existing citywide programs, extend services, and initiate new and innovative programs that would not be provided otherwise. The programs our volunteers support provide for an enriching environment and brighter lives for the Torrance community.
