Bridgett Lewis was first appointed to the Torrance City Council in August 2022 to represent District 2, covering West Torrance, and was elected to the seat on March 5, 2024. She currently chairs the Citizen Development and Enrichment Committee and the Torrance Strategic Plan Committee and serves on the Community Planning and Design and Transportation Committees. At the regional level, she is appointed to the Transportation Committee for SCAG (Southern California Association of Governments) and to the Public Safety Committee for the California League of Cities. She serves on the executive board of the Independent Cities Association. 

Before serving on City Council, Councilmember Lewis dedicated six-and-a-half years to the Torrance Civil Service Commission, including two years as Chair. She is a graduate of The University of Akron, where she earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, and she is employed as Manager of Homeland Security in the largest seaport complex in the United States.
