PRIORITIES:

• As Chairman of the Finance and Government Operations Committee, grow City revenues and monitor spending;
• Ensure that more funds go towards much needed street, sidewalk and park improvements in North Torrance;
• Continue to support our Torrance Police and Fire Departments.

Jon Kaji was elected to Torrance City Council representing District 1 on June 7, 2022.

Kaji currently serves as the Chair for the Finance and Governmental Operations Committee and is a member of the Employee Relations and Public Safety Committee and the Strategic Plan Committee.

Kaji has served as President of Kaji & Associates since 1984. He is an active member of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, the South Bay Association of Realtors, and a Board Member for the International Visitors Council of Los Angeles.  

Kaji served as Commissioner for the State of California Commission for Economic Development. He focused his time on attracting new foreign direct investments to California. Prior to that, he served as a member of the County of Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation leading countywide business attraction and retention efforts. In the early 1990’s, Kaji served as the director of the State of California Office of Trade and Investment in Tokyo, Japan and South Korea.

Kaji is a committed small business owner, husband and father who has deep roots in the Torrance community. He is native of the South Bay calling North Torrance home. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and East Asian Studies from the University of Southern California.
