Torrance Implements Earlier Curfew
TORRANCE, Calif., May 31, 2020- The City of Torrance will once again be under curfew with an updated order beginning tonight at 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. to be consistent with the Countywide Order issued by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The curfew will be in effect every day during the state of local emergency.
Yesterday, due to civil unrest in adjacent cities in Los Angeles County, City Manager LeRoy J. Jackson, acting as the Director of Emergency Services declared the existence of a local emergency in the City of Torrance. The curfew declares that no person shall be upon the public street, avenue, alley, park, way, or other public place or unimproved public realty within the City of Torrance.
The City of Torrance continues to take preventative measures to protect the community with the Torrance Police Department deploying extra staffing throughout the City. Any person not abiding by this declaration is guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to punishment in accordance with Torrance Municipal Code section 16.2.13 or Government Code section 8665.
