City of Torrance Welcomes Yolande Wilburn as New City Librarian

Torrance, Calif., December 5, 2019 – The City of Torrance Community Services Department is proud to welcome and announce Ms. Yolande Wilburn as the City Librarian.  Yolande will be responsible for the oversight of the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library and five Library branches, multiple programs and events, in addition to continuing the on-going relationships and support with the Library Commission, Torrance Unified School District and Friends of the Torrance Library.


Yolande comes to the City of Torrance with more than 8 years of Library in management experience, community outreach, customer service and programming. She brings great passion and energy to the Library profession, and demonstrates the skills and vision to address issues important to the Torrance Community.

“We are very excited to welcome Yolande to our team at the City of Torrance,” stated  John Jones, Community Services Director. “Her exceptional customer service skills, coupled with her professional experience will position our Library services and programs for future growth in serving the Torrance community.”

Yolande Wilburn holds a Master’s Degree in Library Science from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA.
