Bona-fide Torrance-based, non-profit groups may submit events to be included in the Torrance citywide calendar pending approval. The City of Torrance Citywide Calendar System Administrator (Communications Division) is responsible for determining which events are appropriate for posting and then approving a calendar entry. The administrator also has the capability to submit the event to other calendars so that your event may be posted on more than one calendar if appropriate. Events must occur within Torrance city limits to be considered for inclusion and submitted within the categories already identified within the calendar. Find out How To Submit.

Welcome to the 2nd SAKE Matsuri South Bay at Miyako Hybrid Hotel in Torrance! Join us on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 1:30 PM for a day filled with delicious sake tastings and cultural experiences. Don't miss this opportunity to indulge in premium sake varieties and learn from sake experts.

The City of Torrance’s Friendship City partner, Oshu City from Iwate Prefecture, Japan, will join us again this year. Oshu, the hometown of Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, will be bringing its renowned local sake, premium rice, and wagyu beef for all to enjoy.

Come discover new favorite sake brands, enjoy live entertainment, and connect with fellow sake enthusiasts. This is a fantastic chance to expand your palate and deepen your appreciation for this beloved Japanese beverage.

What to expect:

Participating vendors (including well known sake breweries, distributors and food manufacturers) will be offering:

  • Sake Sampling – Enjoy more than 40 premium sakes, including many award-winning brands and styles from across Japan, as well as Japanese shochu (spirits). Varieties include Junmai sake, Junmai Daiginjo sake, Ginjo sake, sparkling sake, Nigori (unfiltered) sake, and Umeshu (plum wine).
  • Food Sampling – Light snacks for sampling will be served, such as California rolls, BBQ wagyu beef from Oshu, chicken karaage, onigiri made with rice from Oshu, and many more delicious bites.
  • Entertainment - Experience the traditional the "kagami biraki" (ceremonial sake barrel opening), wadaiko (Japanese drumming), and an Omotesenke Japanese tea ceremony demonstration.
