What do all these things have in common? Robert Frimtzis. Frimtzis was a teenager during WWII when Josef Stalin was persecuting citizens of Europe. He escaped to start a trek to to America and his dream of aerospace. Imagine a teenager, crossing from Moldova to Romania to Hungary, then Austria, and finally reaching Italy (crossing the Alps twice by foot) to eventually reach America at the age of 19. He received his degrees (Bachelors/CCNY and Masters/Columbia) in electrical engineering without finishing high school. Robert used this knowledge to contributed to the successes of America's space and defense programs. Distinguishing himself in the field of simulator design for airliners, Frimtzis applied his skill and creativity to the field of space exploration, eventually making major contributions to the NASA moon landing program.
