All Torrance Libraries
The Library's annual Summer Reading Program ends. This is the last day to do book reports, get prizes, and have your picture taken for the Reader Wall of Fame. The Katy Geissert Civic Center Library is open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and all branches are open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please call the Youth Services Department at 310-618-5964 for more information.

Join us for our restoration program every Saturday from 8:45 a.m. - 12 noon on the Preserve planting natives, weeding, propagating and or maybe watering new plants. These are some of the restoration projects you could be participating in. Ware tennis shoes (closed toe shoes only),bring gloves and be ready to work. Refreshments are provided. Rain cancels this program.

The Fit Family Fun Day at the Torrance Del Amo Mall in the JoAnn Court will commence the independence of the participants from the chains of obesity. The battle cry for the day is “Obesity Does Not Live Here Anymore!” The day will begin with a power walk at 9:30 a.m. led by CJ, KJLH Radio personality Nautica De La Cruz, and actress Tochina Arnold from “Everybody Hates Chris.” Following the walk, CJ and his team will be providing free exercise and wellness information throughout the event. There will be fun and games for the young and the young heart, along with prizes and gift bags the whole family. The event ends at 2 p.m. The Fit Family Fun Day event is sponsored by: Aetna and Judge Hatchett’s www.parentpowernow.com. Other partners include: The American Heart Association, The American Red Cross, Angels for Sight, The Lupus Foundation of America, Kids are First, The Sickle Cell Foundation of Southern California, The LA County Community and Senior Services, KJLH Radio Station 102.3, and a host of other generous sponsors. The Western Museum of Flight in cooperation with the Dominquez Rancho Adobe Museum presents “Early Aviation from 1910 – 1939” featuring Historian Eric Nelson. Join us another in the WMofF Celebrity Lecture Series. This lecture is free and open to the public. You will enjoy hearing from Eric Nelson, editor of "Los Angeles Aviation to 1940", talk about aviation from 1910-1939 in LA County. Eric will provide an overview of what was going on in aviation up to 1939 and will include aviation events that made the papers in early aviation history.
