Regina Klenjoski Dance Company, known for its inventive choreography and riveting performances, brings theatrical dance to the South Bay. Passionate about the moving body with a thirst for communicating through dance, the Austrian-born Klenjoski creates deeply personal works that examine our search for intimacy in contemporary society. RKDC brings truth to the forefront and delivers a program of athleticism, grace, and humor. In the critically acclaimed, Horton Award-nominated work, Love Lies Waiting, Klenjoski considers the tempestuous landscape of love and desire through the eyes of a loner in search of the perfect love.

Since the month of May is National Preservation Month, the Torrance Historical Society is kicking off their annual Walking Tours of Old Torrance (founded 1912) -- everyone is invited!
This docent-led tour begins at the Torrance Historical Museum, and will point out the historic sites and landmarks of Old Torrance including:
* Original site of Jared Sidney Torrance Memorial Hospital
* Nativity Church (1939)
* Kent Twitchell Mural (20' x 110', 1979)
* Torrance High School - this was the first property in Torrance to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places, U.S. Department of the Interior, 1983
Many more historic sites will be seen along the way. The tour will also include information regarding how industrialist Jared Sidney Torrance, prompted by developing labor troubles in Los Angeles, decided in 1910 to build a "workingman's paradise" -- a model industrial city halfway between Los Angeles and the San Pedro harbor.
The tour is an easy, but brisk walk covering eight blocks. It's open to the public, requires no reservations. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and guests are invited to bring a camera, and a friend!

The WMoF presents a fly-in and discussion about Kit Plane Building and Techniques from Richard VanGrunsven, founder of Van’s Aircraft.
Richard learned to fly in 1956 at the age of 16. He has logged 12,000+ hours. The majority of those hours in airplanes of his own design.
Throughout high school and college years he flew a Cub and a Taylorcraft from the 670' grass strip on his parents' farm near Cornelius, Oregon. Noteworthy pioneers of experimental aviation, George Bogardus and Hobie Sorrell, lived nearby. Richard gleaned information from them and others which became the basis of his vocation.
After finishing college with a degree in engineering, he joined the Air Force for a three year tour. He purchased a homebuilt 65 hp Stits Playboy. VanGrunsven rebuilt it, installing a 125 hp Lycoming engine, bubble canopy, and Hoerner style wingtips. Within a year of returning to civilian life, now employed as a mechanical engineer, he had designed, built and installed a set of cantilever aluminum wings to replace the strut-braced wood and fabric originals. He renamed the Playboy the RV-1.
Van continues to lead the company he founded – now the most successful in the field. Almost every weekday, he commutes to his desk in the engineering office in his original RV-4 – or his RV-10 – or his new RV-12.
