Discover the hidden jewel, right in our backyard. Enjoy a leisurely, easy stroll on the Madrona Marsh Preserve with a docent and learn about this fascinating vernal marsh. This walk occurs the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Will be discontinued starting February. Free! Donations accepted. Volunteers are needed for habitat restoration every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Join the group and gain expertise about weeds of the South Bay. Please join CSUDH professor Connie Vadheim for entertaining and educational classes on various native plant topics. Every month is a different topic. Never the same class twice! Topics range from 'edible seeds and berrys' to 'Chapparal Communities and pruning techniques'. This month's topic is Life-friendly 'Lawns': native groundcover ideas that provide bird & insect habitat. After each presentation, Connie will lead the class through the Nature Center's Native Plant Garden to illustrate key points and further discussion. Handouts are included. This class is best for adults. This class is held in the Madrona Marsh Nature Center on the 1st Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and repeats the following Tuesday of every month from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Free!
