Join us for our restoration program every Saturday from 8:45 a.m. - 12:00 noon on the Madrona Marsh Preserve planting natives, weeding, propagating or maybe watering new plants. Wear closed toe shoes, bring gloves and be ready to work. Refreshments are provided. Rain or a Holiday that fall on a Saturday cancels this program. Be on time - late comers will not be able to work. The event will feature clean air, environment and healthy living exhibits, an art contest, entertainment, food, family fun, and test drives of some of the newest cars by Toyota.

This workshop is designed for those fourteen and older who have never knit before and want to learn the basics: cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. This two-part session includes "homework" to guarantee the completion of a beautiful scarf. Part 2 is Saturday, January 19, and includes bind off and tassels. All supplies are provided. This workshop is free, sponsored by the Friends of the Torrance Library, but limited to 10 participants, so please call the El Retiro Library at 310-375-0922 to register.
