"Friday Fun" is a hands-on program for pre-schoolers, ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. This program will be offered at no charge every Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., but a $5 donation is requested. Best to register on a Tuesday for that week's Friday Fun Program. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting and other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and Parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 20 children. Topics range from 'edible seeds and berries' to 'chaparral communities and pruning techniques' This month's topic will be on fabulous fruits: California native plants with edible fruits. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will be potting and other activities. Join Cindy Reid every 4th Tuesday & Wednesday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (rain or shine) for a hands-on science nature class. Emphasis will be placed on caring for the natural world and being good stewards of the planet. This month's topic will be on bees and pollinators. The 1st hour will be in the classroom for stories, a craft and science including live animals or plants and microscope use. The 2nd hour will be out on the Madrona Marsh Preserve to search for the things that we just studied. You will need to register starting on the first of that month. Only 12 children may attend each class. We will do our best to be fair. A wait list up to 4 children will be added in case of cancellations. The participating children may be signed-in and dropped off for the first hour; parents may watch quietly in the back of the classroom. No younger siblings will be allowed in the classroom, but they are welcome to join us for the marsh walk. Ages 6-8 years. A $5 donation is requested per student.
