Children will have the opportunity to participate in structured activities such as crafts, cooking and games. The fee for Mini Kids Club is $50 for residents and $55 a session for non-residents. Mini Kids Club operates June 23-August 28, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. Ė 2:00 p.m., in 2 week sessions, Mondays and Wednesdays and Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This class occurs on the 1st Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and repeats the following Tuesday of every month from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Every month is a different topic - never the same class twice. Topics range from 'edible seeds and berries' to 'Chaparral Communities and pruning techniques'. This month's topic will be on more beautiful butterflies: food and habitat for our prettiest pollinators. After each presentation Connie will lead the class through the Nature Center's Native Plant Garden to illustrate key points and inspire further discussion. Handouts are included. Fees for Fun and Sports Camp are $130 for residents and $145 for non-residents per one-week session. Fees for Teen Camp are $140 for residents and $155 for non-residents per one-week session. Kids MMA Summer Camp! This summer your kids will learn Self Defense, Mixed Martial Arts, Krav Maga, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai from experienced professionals. They will also build confidence, learn teamwork and master techniques to stay bully-free. Includes beach day and Gym Sleep over!

"Friday Fun" is a hands-on program for pre-schoolers, ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. This program will be offered at no charge every Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., but a $5 donation is requested. Best to register on Tuesday for that week's Friday Fun Program. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting and other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 20 children. The City of Torrance Community Services Department invites the public to stop in for fun at the parks this Summer. Recreation staff will be leading and supervising activities and crafts at no cost! Young children should be accompanied by an adult, as this is a drop in program where children can come and go as they please.

Join us for our habitat restoration program every Saturday of every month from 8:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on the Madrona Marsh Preserve planting natives, weeding, propagating or maybe watering new plants. Wear closed toe shoes, bring gloves and be ready to work. Refreshments are provided. Rain or a holiday that fall on a Saturday cancels this program. Be on time - late comers will not be able to work.
