The City of Torrance Community Services Department in partnership with The Home Depot will be hosting the Carpenter Wagon Program this summer. Staff will help children ages 6-14 create a variety of wood craft projects. Parents/guardians must be present in order for the child to participate. Sessions are limited to 20 children per session and are offered on a first come first served basis. Registration will be taken 10 minutes prior to the start of each session. Limited of one session per child, per day. This program is FREE. Sessions are offered on Wednesdays at the following times: 12:00-12:50 p.m. 1:00-1:50 p.m. 2:00-2:50 p.m.

Torrance High School Zamperini Stadium
The City of Torrance in partnership with the Torrance Historical Society, Torrance Unified School District, Torrance Airport Association, Torrance High School, and the Torrance High School Alumni Association, would like to invite the community to a memorial in honor of Torrance hometown hero, Louis Zamperini who passed away on July 2nd 2014. The memorial, open to the public is planned for 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 31 at Torrance High School's Zamperini Stadium (2125 Lincoln Ave.), Zamperini's alma mater. High heel shoes are not permitted on the field, PLEASE WEAR FLAT SHOES. Public parking is available at SoCal ROC (2300 Crenshaw Blvd.). Join us to celebrate the life of Louis Zamperini with airplane flyovers, reflections from Zamperini’s family and friends, and a symbolic lap around the track. "Evening Under the Stars" celebrates the best in South Bay cuisine while raising funds for local charity. The 2014 Evening Under the Stars Gourmet Food & Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 6:00pm on the grounds of American Honda in Torrance. This year's event will feature multi-GRAMMY Award winners Tia Carrere and Daniel Ho with hula performances by Keali'i Ceballos and Halau. This annual event, created by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and co-presented with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, brings the South Bay Community together with local businesses and civic leaders to benefit the community. The 2014 beneficiary is Torrance Memorial Medical Center and additional selected charities.
