The grandest of grand operas and a brilliant balance of spectacular pageantry and emotional intimacy. A bitter love triangle plays itself out against a backdrop of war and cultural oppression in this compelling tale of conflicting loyalties and forbidden passion. As Aida, soprano Micaela Carosi’s “voice wasn’t only luminous; she was alive in the role…every fear, frustration and outburst of love registered in her voice, face, body” (San Jose Mercury News). Tenor Marcello Giordani plays Radames, “mustering a ringing sound and suitably ardent phrasing” in the opera’s climax (San Francisco Chronicle). “Mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick delivered a powerhouse performance as Amneris, cloaking her unstoppable dramatic fury in plush and impeccably controlled tones.” – San Francisco Chronicle. “As Amonasro, baritone Marco Vratogna emitted gorgeous, orchestra-defying sounds.” – San Francisco Classical Voice.

Torrance Airport (3315 Airport Drive, Red Baron #3)
Today’s Western Museum of Flight (WMoF) Celebrity Series could certainly have a present-day, very-relevant headline: Strategic Challenges Facing the United States Air Force. The years following the terrorist September 2001 have been extraordinary change in establishment. An evolving geopolitical landscape, rapid advances in information other factors have introduced both new threats and opportunities. Reflecting on his past five years as Secretary of the Air Force, Mike Donley will outline the strategic challenges facing the nation’s air and space force and how it seeks to balance competing needs. In the middle of wartime changing security environment, inventories, and declining resources, what has the Air Force determined to be the best way forward, and why? Donley has over 35 years of experience in the national security community, including the US Senate, the White House, and the Pentagon. He has worked for five presidents and six secretaries of defense of both political parties, and stepped down in 2013 as the longest serving Secretary of the Air Force. As always, WMoF Members are free; non-members are $5, which also includes access to WMoF museum exhibits. Free parking. Support YOUR community’s unique museum and place in history: WMoF Annual Memberships (wmof.com/newmem.htm) always available. The annual membership – individual, family or business - gives you one-year unlimited FREE admission to Celebrity Lectures, Quarterly Newsletter and access to the research library (Includes Membership Card), access to Special Events and will be listed in Annual publications.
