"Friday Fun" is a hands-on program for preschoolers, ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. This program will be offered at no charge every Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., but a $5 donation is requested. Best to register on Tuesday for that week's Friday Fun program. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting and other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 20 children. Torrance Art Museum
The Torrance Art Museum is pleased to announce the first exhibition of 2014, Reverb: music as both inspiration and content in contemporary art. The exhibition is curated by Max Presneill and Daniel Rothman and runs from January 18th through March 8th, 2014. Exhibiting artists include: Tyler Adams, Steve Bankhead, Tim Bavington, Juan Capistran, Graham Dolphin, Sean Duffy, Martin Durazo, Deanna Erdmann, Jacqueline Kiyomi Gordon, Kio Griffith, Mineko Grimmer, Martin Kippenberger, Gil Kuno, William Leavitt, Adam Miller, Dave Muller, Georg Nussbaumer, Andy Ralph, Steve Roden, Marina Rosenfeld, Ed Ruscha, Andrew Sexton, Matt Stokes, and Mark Trayle. With 25 international artists, Reverb examines the complex relationship of music and contemporary art. Although music has always played a vital role in the inspiration and creation of many historical works of art, this exhibition takes a closer look at how current artist are using sound and music in their art production today. From actual recordings and video to sculpture and performance, these artists approach music and/or sound and incorporate it into their unique practices. Whether they are working from existing material or generating new sound, these exhibiting artists share this common auditory connection. Beyond The Ocean - art from China Exhibiting in Gallery Two at the Torrance Art Museum is Beyond the Ocean – art from China. This exhibition features new works from nine Chinese artists from Guangzhou, the capital city of the Guangdong Province. The exhibition will be open from January 18th through March 8th, 2014. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, January 18th, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm. Exhibiting artists include: Ming Bai, Guangbin Cai, Sijia Chen, Canbo He, Zhijie Qiu, Qingji Wei, Yi Wu, Jingsong Yang, and Zhengyao Zuo. Beyond the Ocean is a part of the Torrance Art Museum’s mission to provide cultural exchanges from not only the local community but the international stage as well. These artists were selected to present artworks created from a Chinese perspective. As all cultural producers from around the world strive to express their point of view, here too the exhibiting artists are given a chance to present their work to an international audience.

Henry is arriving home late for his birthday dinner party, but with good reason, he has accidentally picked up a briefcase containing loads and loads of money and now his main aim in life is to emigrate and fast! Soon the house is full, resulting in a frantic game of cat and mouse, hilarious inuendo and cruelly funny turns of fate in the battle to hold on to the money.
