Walteria Library

The Walteria Library will be closed for several weeks for ADA improvements. While the Walteria Library is closed, all other Torrance Public Library locations will be open for your reading, reference, and recreational needs. Print and audiovisual materials may be returned in the book drops or at any other Torrance Public Library location.

Free Tax Assistance for Seniors! The Tax Assistance Program for Senior Citizens sponsored by AARP begins February 1, 2012, and continues through April 13, 2012. Join Cindy Reid every Friday for this educational, fun program called "Friday Fun." This is a hands-on program for preschoolers ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. The program is offered at no charge every Friday from 10 -11:30 a.m. The program incorporates story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting or other activities added. Topics (insects, animals or plants) emphasize respect for all living things and prepare children to be good stewards of the planet. 20 kids maximum. Pre-registration is required, please call the Nature Center to register (310)782-3989. $5 donation accepted.

......And Then There Was Nun is written in the style of a classic 1940's murder mystery; and is a blend of humor and who-dun-it as the actors emulate iconic movie stars of the past. Take one foreboding mansion on a secluded island, throw in ten whacked-out members of the Holy Order of the Sisters of San Andreas, stir in their unseen and musterious leader, add an assortment of the sharpest tongues this side of Hollywood and Vine; then infuse witha healthy dose of some of the most famous lines in cinema (slightly warped). Roast well in a preheated treasure trove of movie facts, trivia, legends and gossip for two acts, sit back and savor. This show is a treat for mvoie buffs and non-movie buffs alike.
