Torrance Public Library needs volunteers ages 16 years and older to help collect and preserve the memories of local military veterans. Volunteer interviewers and transcribers will be trained by an instructor from the Southern California Southwest Oral History Association. This program is free and no registration is required. Richard Foss, author, journalist, lecturer, and food historian will tell the tales of how rum and vodka have changed history and will discuss the importance of these beverages. Richard Foss is a food historian and journalist. He has written about food and drink for publications including Time Out, Easy Reader Newspaper, and Los Angeles CityBeat. Most recently he was a contributor to Food Cultures of the World Encyclopedia. This event is free. Seating is limited and is first-come, first-seated.
