The program will be offered at no charge every Friday from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Please register on Tuesday for that weeks Friday Fun Program. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting or other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 20 kids. Free! This month's topic is: They Often go Unnoticed- featuring Warbling and Plumbeous Vireos, Black-Throated Gray, Townsends and Wilson's Warblers (aside of Black and White Warbler). Each class will include a short presentation about the featured birds followed by a walk on the Madrona Marsh Preserve to look for them. Bring binoculars and wear comfortable shoes. This three-mile fun run will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. After the fun run, there will be a spectacular post run prize drawing for mountain bikes, dinner vouchers, gym memberships and many other outstanding prizes. Join Cindy Reid every 4th Tuesday and Wednesday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - noon (rain or shine) for a hands-on science nature class. Emphasis will be placed on caring for the natural world and being good stewards to the planet. This month's topic will be Seeds and How They Spread. The first hour will be in the classroom for stories, a craft and science including live animals or plants and microscope use. The second hour will be walking out on the marsh to search for the things that we just studied. You will need to register for each month, starting the first of that month. Only 12 children may attend each class. We will do our best to be fair. A wait list up to 4 children will be added in case of cancellations. The participating children may be signed-in and dropped off for the first hour, or the parents may watch quietly in the back of the classroom. No younger siblings will be allowed in the classroom, but they are welcome to join us for the marsh walk. Ages 6-8 years. $5 donation per student. Join the Propagation Society and Linda Gonzales as we plant seeds for the future of the Preserve. Learn how to: prepare soil for planting on the Marsh, grow native plants for restoration and fund raising events at the Madrona Marsh, 'pot up' plants to larger containers, collect and 'clean' seeds and prune native plants in the nursery. "Friday Fun" is a hands-on program for preschoolers, ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. The program will be offered at no charge every Friday from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. It is to your advantage to register Tuesday for that week's Friday Fun Program. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting or other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 20 kids. Free!
