The North Torance Library will close one hour early, at 7:00 p.m., to conduct an Area Disaster Center drill. Did you know your neighborhood library becomes an Area Disaster Center in case of an emergency? Library staff, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Torrance Amateur Radio Association (TARA),and other disaster workers use the Library to provide information and assistance in case of a disaster. Library staff will be conducting a drill of these responsibilities, outside materials returns will be open. Join Cindy Reid every Friday for this educational, fun program called "Friday Fun." This is a hands-on program for preschoolers ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. The program is offered at no charge every Friday from 10 -11:30 a.m. The program incorporates story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting or other activities added. Topics (insects, animals or plants) emphasize respect for all living things and prepare children to be good stewards of the planet. 20 kids maximum. Led by guitarist, songwriter, and arranger Stan Ayeroff (Roger Daltry, Heart, Oingo Boingo) and featuring vocalist Bobbi Page (one of the most recorded vocalists in town) and violinist Sid Page (known for his work in Dan Hicks and The Hot Licks and L.A. studios), the innovative new group is dedicated to performing great songs, cool arrangements, and heartfelt performances.

Join us for our restoration program every Saturday from 8:45 a.m. - 12 noon on the Preserve planting natives, weeding, propagating or maybe watering new plants. Wear closed toe shoes, bring gloves and be ready to work. Refreshments are provided. Rain cancels this program. Late comers will be sent away.
