The City of Torrance Community Services invites you to a pancake breakfast and a visit with Santa at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, with entertainment featuring a puppet show by Jim Gamble Puppet Productions and music by DJ Ozzie. Tickets are $20.00 a person and Torrance Residents can make reservations by phone (310) 618-2720 or in person at the Registration Office in the West Annex of City Hall 3031 Torrance Blvd, (two buildings east of the Library) on the following dates: November 19-December 2, 2013 The registration office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be closed on Thursday, November 28, Friday, November 29 and Friday, December 13.

Camp t-shirts are $7 and must be worn on field trips. TEEN CAMP:Think you are too cool for camp? Then check out Winter Teen Camp where you will enjoy indoor crafts, games, and walking field trips with other teens your age and walking field trips, Monday, December 30, 2013, Thursday, January 2, 2014, 2010 and Friday, January 3, 2014 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fees for Winter Teen Camp are $84 for residents. The After School Club Program is geared towards youth in elementary and middle schools. This recreation program is designed to promote self-esteem through group interaction and self-expression. The program offers games, sports, music, group discussions, guest speakers and a wide variety of activities. Structured time is set aside for homework each day. This is not a tutorial based program. This program is based on a ratio of one staff member per ten youth at Elementary School and one staff member per thirteen youth at Middle Schools. Enrollment is limited at all schools. All participants must be a student at the school for which they are registering and also must be picked up by an adult, age 18 or older. Resident walk-in registration begins August 19, 2013. Non-resident walk-in registration begins August 26, 2013. The After School Club Program is geared towards youth in elementary and middle schools. This recreation program is designed to promote self-esteem through group interaction and self-expression. The program offers games, sports, music, group discussions, guest speakers and a wide variety of activities. Structured time is set aside for homework each day. This is not a tutorial based program. This program is based on a ratio of one staff member per ten youth at Elementary School and one staff member per thirteen youth at Middle Schools. Enrollment is limited at all schools. All participants must be a student at the school for which they are registering and also must be picked up by an adult, age 18 or older. Resident walk-in registration begins August 19, 2013. Non-resident walk-in registration begins August 26, 2013. "Friday Fun" is a hands-on program for preschoolers, ages 3-6 and their parents or guardians. The program will be offered at no charge every Friday of the month of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon but a $5 donation is requested. Best to register on Tuesday for that week's Friday Fun program. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will also be potting and other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Flutist Jessica Pierce and guitarist Almer Imamovic began their careers in France while studying at the famed École Normale de Musique de Paris. They both continued their studies at the USC Thornton School, where Jessica earned her doctorate under Jim Walker and Almer earned his Master's under Scott Tennant. AlmaNova performed throughout Europe and North America including Paris's Theatre de Naples, the Tijuana International Guitar Festival, the Juan Serrano International Guitar Festival, and the Dom Armije in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Among their numerous recordings is the 2012 released of their first holiday album "AlmaNova: The Christmas Album" featuring original and inventive arrangements of beloved Christmas classics. They will perform selections from their holiday album, and the CD will be available for purchase as gifts or to be an instant favorite of your holiday music. Topics range from 'edible seeds and berries' to Chaparral Communities and pruning techniques'. This month's topic will be In a Japanese Garden: using CA native Pines and Junipers.
