Cultural Arts Center - Armstrong Theatre Plaza

The City of Torrance is pleased to host a piano on the plaza of the Cultural Arts Center as part of the broad-scale public art installation “Play Me, I’m Yours” by artist Luke Jerram from Thursday, April 12 through Thursday, May 3, 2012. “Play Me, I’m Yours” is being presented in 30 locations around Los Angeles County by the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) to culminate their season-long celebration of Music Director / Pianist Jeffrey Kahane’s 15th anniversary. The pianos, decorated by professional and amateur artists and groups, are being placed in high traffic public spaces to foster hubs of creativity through spontaneous music making. They will be available to the public to play 24 hours per day, 7 days a week without a fee or reservation required. City of Torrance Mayor, Frank Scotto said,” We’re excited to participate in a growing international legacy. The combination of innovation and creativity is a perfect fit for the Torrance community.”
Torrance’s piano will be decorated by Roseline Seng, a Torrance resident and LACO’s graphic designer.
The public is invited to attend any of the locations for the “Play Me, I’m Yours” kick-off on Thursday, April 12 at noon with 30 pianists, both local music students and acclaimed musicians, on all 30 pianos simultaneously performing Complete Preludes from Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Chairs will be set up at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center plaza for the event. Other locations in the South Bay/Harbor area include the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro and the Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club.

Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten Directed by: Jim Hormel. In this side-splitting comic romp about marriage, career-driven Suzannah Hayden needs a lot more help on the home front than she's getting from her husband, Gibby. Enter Beth Bailey, Suzannah's newly hired assistant, a gregarious highly motivated daughter of the South. Beth explodes into the Hayden household and whips it into an organized, well run machine. When Gibby realizes it's Suzannah's career Beth is really after, he sets out to save his marriage aided by Suzannah's best friend. Their efforts to stop Beth at any costs sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry!
