Torrance Public Library presents the 2012 Summer Reading Program "Own the Night!" Visit any Torrance Library and sign up! Read books, magazines, or graphic novels. For every 20 hours that you read you can earn and collect one prize per week. The Torrance Public Library Summer Reading Program is free for teens entering the 8th grade through high school and is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Torrance Library. Torrance Summer Camps will hold 10 weekly sessions from Monday, June 18, 2012 to Friday, August 24, 2012, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Fees range from $125 to $155 per week.
Fun Camp, for ages 6-11, is held at
Greenwood Park and La Romeria Park.
Teen Camp, for ages 12-14, is held at Greenwood Park.
Sports Camp, for ages 7-13, is held at Wilson Park.
Extended Care is also available for Camps. Morning Care is 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Fees are $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents. After Care is 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fees are for $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents.

Join the Propagation Society and Linda Gonzales as we plant seeds for the future of the Preserve. Learn how to: prepare soil for planting on the Marsh, grow native plants for restoration and fund raising events at the Madrona Marsh, 'pot up' plants to larger containers, collect and 'clean' seeds and prune native plants in the nursery. Starting June 1, 2012, 50 person limit for this program. You must register to attend. You may register on Saturdays at 12 noon or you may register by calling the Nature Center at; (310)782-3989. If you plan to attend with a group each person must individually sign up. If you no show after you have signed up, you may not sign up again for 2 weeks.
Join us for our restoration program every Saturday from 8:45 a.m. - 12 noon on the Preserve planting natives, weeding, propagating or maybe watering new plants. Wear closed toe shoes, bring gloves and be ready to work. Refreshments are provided. Rain cancels this program. Late comers will be sent away. If you are 15 years or younger you must be accompnied by a parent or guardian.
