Take a stroll with Dave Moody and Ron Melin as you identify the different species of birds at the Madrona Marsh Preserve as well as other parks throughout the City of Torrance. Volunteers are needed for habitat restoration every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Join the group and gain expertise about weeds of the South Bay. Please join CSUDH professor Dr. Connie Vadheim for entertaining and educational classes on various native plant topics. Every month is a different topic. Never the same class twice! This class is held in the Madrona Marsh Nature Center on the 1st Saturday of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and repeats the following Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Topics range from 'edible Seeds and Berries' to 'Chaparrel Communities and Pruning Techniques'. This month's topic is Hide that Ugly Wall - tricks to using native plants as camouflage. After each presentation, Connie will lead the class through the Madrona Marsh Nature Center's Native Plant Garden to illustrate key points and further discussion. Handouts are included.
