This is the story of one very mischievous sprite whose matchmaking goes awry in South Bay Ballet’s adaption of the famous play by William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A delightful tale for the young and young at heart, South Bay Ballet brings to life this whimsical story of love, mischief and magic in a forest inhabited by faerie folk, woodland creatures and a donkey! Artistic Director Diane Lauridsen and Assistant Artistic Director Elijah Pressman present the talents of South Bay Ballet in this collaborative production for one weekend only, Saturday, June 1 at 2 and 6 pm; and Sunday, June 2 at 2 and 5pm at the James Armstrong Theatre in Torrance. All seats are $22. Tickets may be purchased online at www.southbayballet.org or the Theatre Box Office at 310.781.7171. South Bay Ballet’s Storybook series calls fantasy and imagination to the stage with ballets designed to educate, entertain and inspire young audiences. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is perfect for all ages, with a running time of just 90 minutes – including one intermission. Performing the principal roles in this year’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream are Delaney Zieg as Titania; Elijah S. Pressman as Oberon; Mayu Odaka as Helena; Richard Link as Demetrius; Daisy Jacobson as Hermia; Ty Molbak as Lysander; and returning from Oklahoma City Ballet for a guest performance as Puck is South Bay Ballet alumni Paul C. The South Bay Scooter Club meets the first Saturday of every month for a chance to ride around the South Bay on our scooters with fellow scooter enthusiasts. Though vintage Italian scooters are preferred, all types of scooters are always welcome. Meet at Claim Jumper restaurant in Torrance at 12:30pm. Ride leaves around 1pm-ish. Different routes and end spots are chosen every month. Come out and ride!!

This docent-led tour begins at the Torrance Historical Museum, and will point out a number of historic sites and landmarks of Old Torrance (founded 1912), along the way. You will also learn how the City and some of the streets in Downtown got their name, where the first public library originated, the original boundaries of the City, where Buffy the Vampire Slayer was filmed and more. The tour is an easy, but brisk walk covering eight blocks. It's open to the public, requires no reservations, and is hosted on the fourth Sunday of every month, May - October.
