Time: 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Description: ......And Then There Was Nun is written in the style of a classic 1940's murder mystery; and is a blend of humor and who-dun-it as the actors emulate iconic movie stars of the past. Take one foreboding mansion on a secluded island, throw in ten whacked-out members of the Holy Order of the Sisters of San Andreas, stir in their unseen and musterious leader, add an assortment of the sharpest tongues this side of Hollywood and Vine; then infuse witha healthy dose of some of the most famous lines in cinema (slightly warped). Roast well in a preheated treasure trove of movie facts, trivia, legends and gossip for two acts, sit back and savor. This show is a treat for mvoie buffs and non-movie buffs alike.

WMoF Celebrity Lecture Series: Lt. Gen. Brian Arnold, Cder, SMC - His Finger on the Pulse of USA's Space And Missile Program

    <event_link> http://www.torranceca.gov/events/webevent.plx?cmd=showevent;eventID=63737;token=guest.5ee9ac8925c7954ed0dc4ae32024dbfb</event_link>

Date: Sat, Mar 17, 2012
Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Description: Lt. Gen. Brian A. Arnold (retired) assumed command (2001) of the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) (LA Air Force Base, El Segundo) just four months after receiving his fourth star and only 16 months after his third star. As SMC Commander, Arnold oversaw 6,500 employees and an annual budget in excess of $10 billion. He retired (2005) after serving his country for 34 years. Arnold became, and currently serves as, Vice President Space Strategy at Raytheon overseeing 10,000-plus employees.

This is a chance to hear and interact with a person who truly had his finger on the pulse of this country’s space and missile program. The mission of the USAF is to “fly, fight and win...in air, space and cyberspace”. SMC is considered the birthplace of military space, and center of military space acquisition excellence that has a mission to deliver resilient and affordable space capabilities for the nation. General Arnold certainly helped shape that mission.

Arnold spent the majority of his Air Force career serving as a pilot (over 3,000 hours) in FB-111 and B-52 aircraft; as a squadron commander, wing commander and subunified commander. General Arnold received the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation and Air Force Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Medal with two bronze stars and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal among others.

As always, WMOF Members are free; non-members are $5, which also includes access to WMOF museum exhibits. Free parking. BTW, a WMoF membership (www.wmof.com/newmem.htm) can be yours for as little as $50 annually giving you one-year unlimited FREE admission to the WMoF museum, all the Celebrity Series Lectures, Quarterly Newsletters, access to the research library and access to Special Events.

Date: Sat, Mar 17, 2012

Date: Sun, Mar 25, 2012
Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Description: The Library is working on a new Plan of Service, designed to guide your public library into the future. This is a multi-part process, and it is time to hear directly from you! We are asking you ~ a library user, non-user, former-user, or future-user ~ to spend about an hour and a half of your time with us, to tell us a bit about yourself, your needs, your aspirations, and how your public library can help. There is no homework, no age limit, and no requirements for participation. Though you will be asked for some brief demographic data, your thoughts and opinions will be shared only with the group and will be anonymous in the final Plan of Service. In order to participate, you just have to show up ready to share, and plan to stay the entire time for the focus group process. Beverages and refreshments will be provided. We are asking all those with an interest in their community, and in their public library, to spend some time helping us with this process. The more meaningful the input, the more meaningful the outcome ~ please join me!
