Join us for an evening with award-winning investigative journalist Scott Carney as he discusses his latest book "The Red Market: On the Trail of the World's Organ Brokers, Bone Thieves, Blood Farmers, and Child Traffickers." Scott Carney has spent five years tracing the lucrative and deeply secretive trade in human bodies and body parts - a vast hidden economy known as the "red market." His reporting has appeared on NPR, CBC, BBC, and National Geographic TV, and in Mother Jones, Fast Company, Discover, and Foreign Policy. Scott Carney has written a courageous expose of this underground trade, discussing ethical dilemmas that may affect all of us in the future. This event is free, sponsored by the Friends of the Torrance Library, and recommended for ages 16 and over.
