Western Museum of Flight, 3315 Airport Dr., Torrance

This month's featured Western Museum of Flight (WMoF) Celebrity Speaker is Colonel (ret.) Robert Khalsa, a fighter pilot, who was trained on the MiG21 and MiG25 in Russia. He offers a perspective on the Cold War from the training airstrip in Russia to retiring as a colonel to flying commercial jumbo jets at United Airlines to settling in California.
Col. Robert Khalsa honed his skills as a fighter pilot, while serving in the Indian Air Force, during one of the most turbulent political eras of modern times. He was sent to the Soviet Union for training on some of the most sophisticated Russian fighter planes to come out of the Cold War, flying the MiG 21 and MiG 25. With the end of the superpower confrontation, international tensions relaxed considerably, and enabled this remarkable individual to apply his skills to a more congenial job – flying for the airlines. In that role, with United Air Lines, he has experience with both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. Join us, while Col. Khalsa shares some experiences of life behind the Iron Curtain, and the saga of his personal journey into the airlines. He will offer us some comparisons of the various aircraft he has flown, and, of course, will answer questions that we know our audience will be eager to ask.
As always, WMOF Members are free; non-members are $5, which also includes access to WMOF museum exhibits. Free parking.
BTW, a WMoF membership (www.wmof.com/newmem.htm) can be yours for as little as $50 annually giving you one-year unlimited FREE admission to the WMoF museum, all the Celebrity Series Lectures, Quarterly Newsletters, access to the research library and access to Special Events.
