This is the story of one very mischievous sprite whose matchmaking goes awry in South Bay Ballet’s adaption of the famous play by William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A delightful tale for the young and young at heart, South Bay Ballet brings to life this whimsical story of love, mischief and magic in a forest inhabited by faerie folk, woodland creatures and a donkey!
Artistic Director Diane Lauridsen and Assistant Artistic Director Elijah Pressman present the talents of South Bay Ballet in this collaborative production for one weekend only, Saturday, June 1 at 2 and 6 pm; and Sunday, June 2 at 2 and 5pm at the James Armstrong Theatre in Torrance. South Bay Ballet’s Storybook series calls fantasy and imagination to the stage with ballets designed to educate, entertain and inspire young audiences. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is perfect for all ages, with a running time of just 90 minutes – including one intermission.
Performing the principal roles in this year’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream are Delaney Zieg as Titania; Elijah S. Pressman as Oberon; Mayu Odaka as Helena; Richard Link as Demetrius; Daisy Jacobson as Hermia; Ty Molbak as Lysander; and returning from Oklahoma City Ballet for a guest performance as Puck is South Bay Ballet alumni Paul C. Kirk.
